The Pachira aquatica, also known as Guiana Chestnut, or Money Tree, was initially found growing in the swamps and wetlands of Central and South America. The tree originally became popular as a houseplant in Taiwan in the 1980s.  They are recognized for their natural resilience.  They are highly favored as decorative additions to commercial spaces.

Can do well in low light conditions but favors bright, indirect light

Can be watered infrequently but generously once a week, measured by dryness of top layer of soil

Moist soil
Best soil mix for Money Tree typically include sand, pebbles, perlite, or horticultural charcoal which facilitate drainage
Lightly fertilize 3-4 times a year with a water-soluble fertilizer

Non-toxic to animals and humans, however can cause upset stomach in cats if ingested
